Is The Gaffer free to play?
Yes. The Gaffer is free to play in your browser. There are no pay-to-win shortcuts — your club progresses through decisions, scouting, and match results.
Is there pay-to-win?
No. We do not sell competitive advantages. Manager progression, squad quality, and league success come from how you run your club.
What do I need to play?
A modern desktop or laptop browser with a stable internet connection. The Gaffer is designed for keyboard and mouse play. Mobile support is on the roadmap but not the primary experience today.
How do I create a club?
Register from the home page, then follow club creation to name your side and enter the world. One manager account owns one club in the live world.
How do seasons and matchdays work?
The game runs on a shared calendar with weekly seasons. Fixtures are scheduled across the week; you prepare lineups, training, and transfers between matchdays. Promotion and relegation are resolved at season end.
How does promotion work?
League tables determine who moves up or down the pyramid each season. Start in Touchline League and work toward The Gaffer's Hall. Cup competitions and long-term club building sit alongside league football.
Can I play offline?
No. The Gaffer is an online world where every club shares the same economy, fixtures, and news. You need to be online to manage your club and for matches to simulate.
Something broke — what should I do?
Beta software can have rough edges. Use the in-game Feedback tool after logging in, or email support@thegafferfm.com with steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots help a lot.
Will my save be wiped?
We treat live clubs seriously and avoid resets where possible. During early beta we may need database maintenance or balance migrations; we will communicate clearly if anything affects existing saves.
Can I delete my account?
Contact support@thegafferfm.com from the email tied to your account and we will process deletion requests in line with our Privacy Policy.
